Theodore Roosevelt

Woodrow had one the election of 1913 in a land slide victory against Roosevelt and many people were angry with Roosevelt because he had sworn not to run for another term and he had ran as an independent instead of his previous republican status. He knew that he would eventually need to get away from his home because of the election so when he woke up the next morning his wish of getting away had come true. The Brazilian minister had given him a letter about an exploration of the River of Doubt in South America. He knew that if he went to explore his son Kermit would be down there as well. So Roosevelt set out as early as he could to get to the River of Doubt located in the middle of the Amazon Rain Forest so he knew that this exploration wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. When he got there they wasted no time for the expedition and they were eventually greeted by their 16 men, his son Kermit, and Colonel Candido Rondon who was Brazil’s most famous explorer. They packed everything that they needed and they were off on the journey to the River of Doubt When they arrived some of the men were already sick so they eventually came to a decision to split the squad of men into to cover more land. As the days went on more and more disasters went on. The first of them is that they lost their canoes to the raging rapids and they had to make dugout canoes which put them back many days to make. Another thing that went on was that they were not covering enough land each day so that there food and supplies were decreasing at a steady rate until they had no food to spare so they had to find things like berries, nuts, and sometimes fish to stay alive. The disasters didn’t stop from there they eventually stumbled upon an Indian group that was not only hostile and dangerous but also cannibalistic. After some deaths and shortages of food some people started to loose there mind one person stole from the group and eventually murdered someone. After about halfway through the expedition many people were deathly ill from the disease known as malaria even Roosevelt while he was exploring he cut himself on a rock and gotten a small case of it. But the worst of the events had yet to come. When the expedition was nearing its end the team had found a waterfall that was near to impossible to get around so the team had looked for an alternate root and eventually found one but it proved to be unbelievably dangerous so the team made a decision to go on with it. Some of the last squad members had volunteered to try it and they took one of the canoes and went down and one of the guys got swept away and was never seen again and the other to had almost drowned. Eventually Kermit had come up with an idea to get down the waterfall but it wouldn’t be easy. He used a rope to eventually get them across to the other side of the waterfall. Eventually because of their disasters they were rescued and only three of them survived Roosevelt, his son Kermit, and Colonel Candido Rondon. In the end there bravery was eventually rewarded by the Brazilians renaming the River of Doubt to Rio Roosevelt.

Online Safety

On Sunday October 14, 2012 a Milan student was charged with two felonies related to Facebook. The student had threatened to blow up part of his school and was held on $5000 dollars bond. I think that threats like this should be taken seriously because you never know if it will happen or not. I also think that the student should be punished because that he was putting students in harm’s way if the event actually happened. I think that his punishment should be 30 days in jail at least. Here is another article on Online Safety- http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/technolog/teens-arrested-over-bizarre-facebook-death-plot-125357

Feed Readers

From using both Technorati and Google Reader I think they are both good readers but, I seem to like Technorati more because of how easy it is to use. I like Technorati because they sort the blogs in to categories while Google Reader all you do is search and in Google Reader it is harder to find a good blog compared to Technorati. Another thing I like about Technorati is that there are tabs that show you the latest blogs and top blogs on the website but, in Google Reader there is none of those things. The only thing that I like more about Google Reader is its sleek designs compared to Technorati.
